The Ridge is a Mixed-Use development located in Ridgeways, Nairobi and it sits on 10 acres of land, along the Northern Bypass. The development comprises of Eight 10-storey blocks, consisting of 700 apartments, an elliptical tower consisting of an additional 100 serviced apartment and a 2-storey, 200 meter long Retail Strip on its frontal aspect, containing 2000m2 of retail outlets. The overall conceptual layout is based on creating a built that looks inwards into the developers own controlled built environment. This resulted in proposing a series of recreational courtyards, with a variety of playgrounds, pools and picnic facilities, ensuring all apartments are formed around these spaces, with the living spaces and bedrooms enjoying direct views into this controlled landscaped environment. The lowest level apartments open directly onto this terrace; 4m is hived off and allocated to the respective apartments.  These apartments are referred to as “Terraced Apartments.”  The topmost apartments are double storey and open to the expansive roof terraces.  These apartments are referred to as “Penthouse Apartments.” The frontal aspect of this development is over 200m long and is directly adjacent and visible from the Northern Bypass.  This provides a unique development opportunity and hence an expansive retail front, directly accessible by non-residents from the main road, and from the landscaped terrace of the apartments. This retail strip consists of a variety of retail outlets, convenience stores, food and beverage outlets, all of which enjoy unique activation and visibility. The Architectural theme is contemporary with simple line forms, large window opening for the living spaces, cantilevered balconies, and canopies.
