Applewood is an exclusive gated community comprising of 18 luxury villas, a clubhouse and community center. It is located in Miotoni area in Karen, Nairobi.  The plot extends from Miotoni Road with its frontal aspect being relatively flat and begins to slope midway towards a man-made dam that receives its water from Miotoni River. Following the successful completion and occupation of Amara Ridge, the client desired to repeat a similar concept layout where two distinctive architectural styles; Modern and Mediterranean would be incorporated to accord buyers a choice of two distinct styles and exquisite villa designs.

The project consists of 4 building typologies; 2 on the relatively flatter aspects of the development.  These would be placed on alternate plots, one being Mediterranean and the other Contemporary.  Similarly, the other 2 typologies are a Dam Front Mediterranean and Deluxe Contemporary Villa, resulting from the steep slope of the lower aspect of the development.  Each architectural language is an authentic celebration of the select style.  The Mediterranean one is characterized by round Doric columns, arched windows, cornices, fine stone dressing and plaster with a variety of soft pastel paint colors. The Contemporary Villa is characterized by simple straight lines, extended cantilevered planes and large sliding windows.  The walls are finished in plaster, white paint and accents of timber and aluminum fins and panels.
