Amara Ridge is a residential gated community consisting of 10 villas and a club house. It is located in Karen, Nairobi, next to the Bomas of Kenya Convention Centre. The concept was derived from a desire to accommodate the design style preference of two primary stakeholders: one preferring a Classical Grandiose Style and the other a more Modern/Minimalist style. The site’s slopping aspect lends itself to terracing to enable ease of development.
The building formations are arrayed on 2 terraces and are accessible from 2 internal street frontages. The upper terrace accommodates the Classical Style villas, and the lower terrace the Contemporary Style villas. The primary living spaces are all placed with the layout plans extending to expansive outdoor terraces or balconies, overlooking the terraced gardens, Mokoyeti River Valley, and forest beyond. Each architectural language is an authentic celebration of the selected style. The Classical Villa is characterized by the classical Corinthian columns, the fluting of feature columns, arched windows cornices, and skirtings. The Contemporary Villa is characterized by simple straight lines, shifting planes, cantilevered balconies, and large window openings.
